What are the Pre-Tax limits?

For 2011, the pre-tax limit is $230. Effective January 1, 2012, pre-tax deductions are allowed up to the limit of $125.

Why is the 2012 transit limit decreasing when the Parking limit increased?

This is because the temporary increase in the Pre-Tax limit for transit expenses that was originally implemented by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (and extended in December 2010) is set to expire.

Benesyst believes that Commuter benefits incentivize conservation of resources, pollution reduction, congestion alleviation and many other benefits that provide ROI to employers and our society at large. Benesyst and our partners have been working diligently towards a permanent solution with minimal impact to the monthly transit pre-tax cap or at least an extension of the current limit. One such effort is http://www.commuterbenefitsworkforus.com/, a site designed to rally support and allow commuters and their employers to voice their opinions to their elected officials. We ask that you spread the word to all relevant parties so we can together make a difference on this matter.
